Landscape Design
A Thoughtfully Designed Outdoor Space — Built Around How You Actually Live
Why It Matters
A Collaborative Team with Depth Across Every Discipline
Landscape design is where clarity begins. A well-developed design doesn't just describe what the finished space will look like — it accounts for drainage, soil conditions, irrigation, tree placement, hardscape materials, plant health, and long-term sustainability before a single shovel goes in the ground. The design phase is where costly surprises are prevented and where your investment is protected.
When you work with us, you have direct access to a skilled landscape designer, a plant specialist, a certified irrigation technician, and a Board-Certified Master Arborist — all contributing to a plan that addresses every aspect of your property. Having arborist oversight, irrigation expertise, and design skill working together from the start produces a plan that holds up — not just in the rendering, but in practice.
You'll have one point of contact throughout the process, clear communication at every stage, and the confidence that comes from working with a team that has done this across a wide range of properties throughout San Jose and the surrounding area.

What We Know
Why Landscape Design Is Worth Doing Right
A landscape is one of the most visible and lived-in parts of a property. It's also one of the most expensive to redo if the original planning was incomplete. The design phase is where these outcomes are avoided.
Drainage & Water Planning
Drainage problems that weren't anticipated during design become flooding problems after the first wet season. Our clay-heavy soils in many San Jose neighborhoods retain water differently than sandy soils — affecting plant selection, drainage design, and irrigation scheduling in ways that need to be addressed from the start.
Arborist-Integrated Planning
Hardscape that wasn't designed with tree root behavior in mind begins cracking within a few years. Every design includes arborist input on tree selection, placement, and preservation — accounting for root behavior, mature canopy size, and long-term interaction with structures and hardscape.
Valley Water Rebates
Valley Water's Landscape Rebate Program offers meaningful financial incentives for qualifying conversions. Designing to those standards from the start — rather than retrofitting a plan afterward — is how you actually capture that value. We know the requirements and design accordingly.
Is This Right for You?
Consider a Landscape Design Consultation If:
Whether you're starting from scratch or rethinking a space that isn't working, the right starting point is a conversation about your property, your goals, and what's actually possible.
- Your current outdoor space isn't functioning the way you want — drainage issues, dying plants, underused areas, or a layout that doesn't work for how you live
- You're planning a significant renovation and want a comprehensive plan before any work begins
- You want to convert to a drought-tolerant or water-efficient landscape and want it designed well, not just replanted
- You're building or remodeling and want the landscape integrated with the project from the start rather than added on at the end
- You want to explore Valley Water rebate opportunities and need a design that qualifies
- You simply want a more beautiful, functional, and lower-maintenance outdoor space and aren't sure where to start
"The design phase is where costly surprises are prevented and where your investment is protected."

Our Landscape Design Process
A structured, collaborative process — from first conversation to finished space.
Initial Consultation
We begin with a qualifying conversation to understand your goals, your property's conditions, and whether we're the right team for your project. This keeps the process focused from the start.
On-Site Visit
We visit your property, assess existing conditions — soil, drainage, existing plants and trees, sun exposure, irrigation, and hardscape — and listen carefully to what you want the space to do. We also bring our own observations and ideas, because sometimes the best design solutions aren't obvious until someone who's done this across many properties walks the site.
Design Plan
We develop a comprehensive design plan created to scale, accounting for every element of the project — plantings, hardscape, irrigation, drainage, lighting, tree placement, and more. Every recommendation is grounded in the specific conditions of your property, not a template applied from elsewhere.
3D Renderings
You receive detailed 3D renderings and, where applicable, video walkthroughs so you can genuinely visualize the finished space before installation begins. This step eliminates guesswork and makes it much easier to identify adjustments before they become expensive changes mid-project.
Revision and Approval
We provide opportunities for feedback and revisions throughout the design phase — with unlimited adjustments within a six-month period — to make sure the final plan reflects exactly what you want before any work begins.
Transition to Installation
Once the design is approved, the same team transitions seamlessly into installation, with a dedicated foreman guiding the project from plan to completion. You're never handed off to a separate crew that hasn't been part of the process.

Our Difference
Why Homeowners Choose Us
Homeowners across San Jose choose us for landscape design because they want a team that brings real expertise to every discipline the project touches — not a design-only firm that hands off to a separate contractor, and not an installation crew that designs as they go. Our integrated approach means the person who understands your trees is part of the same conversation as the person who designs your drainage and the person who selects your plants.
Our experience across established neighborhoods in San Jose, including Willow Glen and Almaden Valley, as well as Los Gatos and Saratoga, means we bring regional depth to every design — not generic solutions that may or may not perform here. That collaboration produces better outcomes. And it makes the process significantly less stressful.
"One team, one process, one point of contact — from first conversation through final walkthrough."
Schedule a ConsultationLandscape designer, plant specialist, irrigation technician, and Board-Certified Master Arborist — all contributing to one integrated plan.
You see the finished space before a single plant goes in the ground — with unlimited revisions within six months to make sure the plan is exactly right.
Clay soils, extended dry summers, and Valley Water rebate requirements all shape how we design. Our recommendations are built for conditions here — not generalized guidelines.
The same team that designs your landscape installs it — so nothing gets lost in translation between the plan and the finished space.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions — Landscape Design
What does your design process look like from start to finish?
It begins with a qualifying call to make sure we're the right fit for your project, followed by an on-site visit where we assess your property and listen to your goals. From there we develop a comprehensive, to-scale design plan with 3D renderings so you can visualize the finished space before anything is installed. You have the opportunity to provide feedback and request revisions throughout — with unlimited adjustments within a six-month period — before we move into installation. You'll have one point of contact from the first conversation through the final walkthrough.
How do you make sure the design will be low-maintenance over time?
Low-maintenance outcomes start with the right plant selection and the right placement. We choose species suited to the specific conditions of your property — soil type, sun exposure, water availability — so they're not fighting their environment from day one. Irrigation design, drainage planning, and soil preparation are all part of the same conversation. A landscape that requires constant intervention is almost always the result of decisions made without full consideration of site conditions. Our process is specifically designed to prevent that.
Do you design drought-tolerant or water-efficient landscapes?
Yes, and it's a significant part of what we do. California's water environment makes drought-tolerant design a practical necessity, not just a trend. We design landscapes using species and layouts suited to our climate, and we're experienced with the Valley Water Landscape Rebate Program — which offers rebates for qualifying residential conversions. If capturing that rebate is part of your goal, we'll design to those standards from the start.
Is your work warrantied?
We stand behind the quality of our work and will discuss warranty terms as part of the project conversation. The best warranty, though, is a design and installation process done correctly from the start — which is why we invest as much as we do in the planning phase before any installation begins.
Can you also handle installation, lighting, patios, and irrigation as part of the same project?
Yes — and this is one of the genuine advantages of working with us. We are a full-service team, which means the design and the installation are handled by the same people who developed the plan. We install hardscape including paver patios, walkways, and retaining walls; landscape lighting; irrigation systems; plantings; and outdoor living features. You don't need to manage multiple contractors or worry about whether the installer understood what the designer intended. It's one team, one process, one point of contact.
Start with a Conversation.
End with a Space You Love.
If you're ready to start thinking about your outdoor space, the first step is a conversation. We'll learn about your property, your goals, and your timeline — and give you an honest picture of what's possible. We'll return your message within 24 hours.
