As our teams continue to progress towards improving the health and aesthetic of your yard, we want to keep you informed and updated on what we are doing each month to accomplish that.
Last month our focus was on lawn health and irrigation. We performed aeration, reseeding, fertilization, and adjusted the sprinkler heads.
The irrigation timers were also turned on and the systems should be running.
Here are our goals for May:
- Irrigation Inspections
We will be looking at all the irrigation systems on site to make sure there are no leaks or malfunctions so that we are sure the systems are operating at their full potential.
- Grub Treatments
We will be applying a grub treatment to hopefully avoid a severe outbreak of grubs this coming summer. Performing an application now will target the grubs at their early life stages before they are mature and can cause lawn damage.
The product we use is a granular insecticide. It will be spread out over the lawn and then be watered into the soil. It should start being effective immediately.
Once an application is performed and then watered in, it would be best to not use the lawn for 24 hours. To avoid getting it on your feet or shoes.
- Weed Abatement
At the same time we apply a grub treatment, we would also like to apply an herbicide to target invasive weeds and grasses. This is also a granular product that can be spread over the soil and watered in.
It is also suggested that the lawn area not be used for 24 hrs after the application.
Our teams will inform you the day they make the application.
- Shrub Management
As the shrubs and plants grow we will continue to prune them and also treat any present insects or fungus. The team is using a Neem oil product to treat consistently, but they may need a stronger product and will ask your permission before using one on your property.
Other Recommendations For Your Garden
These are some of our suggestions to perform during the month of May and June if you have not done them already:
Mulching Planter beds: Applying mulch around plants and trees now is a great time to help protect the soil from the summer heat and improve the look of your yard.
Planting: Installing plants during the month of may is a great time because it is not too hot yet and the soils are starting to warm up to encourage root growth. It’s a much better time now than the heat of summer.
